Grant 0503-LAO: Second Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project

- Project Cost: USD 26,500,000 (ADB Grant USD 25,000,000 plus GOL contribute USD 1,500,000)
ADB Grant coverage of investment:
1. Civil Work: 5,000,000 USD
2. Training equipment : 6,000,000 USD
3. International Consultant : 630,000 USD
4. National Consultant : 1,470,000 USD
5. Consultants Firm : 1,700,000 USD
6. Upgrading Capacity of Teachers and School Management: 2,250,000 USD
7. Teaching Materials 8 colleges : 300,000 USD
8. Stipend Scheme for 8 colleges : 4,000,000 USD
9. Project Managements : 1,150,000 USD
10. Contingencies : 2,500,000 USD

Building on the lessons of the Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project,[1] the proposed project will continue to support efforts to realign technical and vocational education and training (TVET) with current and future labor market needs by :

completed in September 2016).
[2] The following colleges will be supported under the project:

Building on the lessons of the Strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training Project,[1] the proposed project will continue to support efforts to realign technical and vocational education and training (TVET) with current and future labor market needs by :
- (i) upgrading teaching and learning environments at eight vocational colleges,[2]
- (ii) strengthening teachers’ competencies to deliver student-centered practical training in skill areas that are in demand, and
- (iii) improving the management of colleges and fostering an environment that demonstrates the principles of entrepreneurship and promotes involvement of companies and communities in TVET.
